T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron Review

I’ve always thought it was funny that whenever a movie or show wants to show a housewife laboring away, that they always choose the image of a woman ironing. I guess, I shouldn’t think it’s funny, but I really do and it’s because I enjoy ironing my family’s clothes. This became especially true, once I bought the T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron.

This iron has made ironing clothes so much easier than it used to be, that anyone who tries it would have to agree that ironing clothes is anything but hard labor. Sure, ironing isn’t my favorite activity, but having the T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron does make it rank a lot higher on my list.

Effortless Ironing

I guess I can understand why some of those images that present ironing as hard work exist. After all, when you are working with an antiquated iron, it can be rough going. The iron I used before I bought the T-Fal Ultraglide Iron was a bit dinged up and scratched on the soleplate. That made for some difficult ironing.

The Ultraglide, however, lives up to its name and glides easily around while I iron. The ads for this iron say it’s because the soleplate is scratch resistant. I’m not sure if that’s why or not, but I do know that ironing has never been easier.

I barely feel any resistance at all when I use the T-Fal Ultraglide Iron. Ironing is a weekly activity at my house, so anything I can do to make it easier is always a welcome addition to the routine. Buying the T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron has been the single most effort saving purchase I’ve ever made.

Pros

  • Long 9 foot cord. I was astounded when I took this iron out of the box and discovered that it had a 9 foot cord. That is plenty of cord length to make ironing much easier.
  • Easycord System. I don’t want to keep harping on the cord, but having a cord that is both long and kept out of the way is essential for simple ironing. The Easycord system on this iron keeps the cord out of my way when ironing.
  • Safety features. There are three different shut-off modes for safety. I never forget to turn my iron off, but it’s nice to know that there are built-in safety features to prevent an accidental fire.

Cons

  • It’s loud. Ironing isn’t quiet with the T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron. The steam crackles and pops. This isn’t a huge deal to me, as the iron does its job well.
  • Little puddles. I’ve had a few instances where the iron left some tiny splashes of water on my clothes. It may be due to me overfilling, but whatever the cause it’s a bit annoying.

The long cord that stays out of your way and the easy gliding of the T-Fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron makes it a perfect iron for typical home use. With safety features built in, it’s a tough act to beat.
